The acquisition puts the Union business in a position of significantly greater strength, with a broader portfolio of services now available to our customers.
Union Solutions has been acquired by Claranet, one of Europe’s leading managed IT services providers, to add our hosting design, transition, and migration services to its portfolio. Joining the group means our customers can access a broader range of services for migrating and running their critical applications and infrastructure 24/7, with Claranet’s Networks, Hosting, Communications, and Security teams now working in close partnership with us.
The current Union leadership team will be maintaining their positions, and we continue to serve our customers as before as we look forward to growing and developing as part of a larger group.
With £325 million in revenue, over 6,500 customers and more than 1,800 employees based in 24 offices and 43 data centres across seven European countries and Brazil, Claranet is an award-winning Managed Service Provider. The company has a reputation for technical innovation and excellence and is one of only a few MSPs to achieve the highest partner accreditation status with AWS, Google, and Microsoft. Claranet has also been a leader in Gartner’s Magic Quadrant for Managed Hybrid Cloud Hosting, Europe every year from 2013 – 2017.
Its customer base covers all industry sectors and includes market leaders such as L&G, Signet, Currency Cloud, Arup, Willian Hill, Ladbrokes, Missguided, Care UK and Pets at Home and Santander.
Michel Robert, Managing Director at Claranet UK, said: “Claranet has acquired Union Solutions to enhance its hosting design, transition, and migration capabilities for large-scale on-premise solutions as well as additional strong Azure skills and offerings. Union has the right depth of experience and capability for us in the design and implementation of mission critical infrastructure, with emphasis on data storage and security. Union has developed strong customer relationships in the legal, financial services, and retail verticals which will further enhance our capabilities in these important sectors.
“Union’s passion for excellence and the desire to grow meant it was an ideal fit as part of our ongoing focus on rapid expansion, so we are eagerly anticipating adding the company’s unique capabilities to our own, and using this new expertise to further enhance our market offering.”
We are delighted that we have now become part of the Claranet group. Union’s data management services, hyper converged platform skills, and Azure specialism – now coupled with Claranet’s public cloud and private cloud capabilities – brings an incredibly powerful hybrid transformation proposition to our customers and the general market. In today’s rapidly changing hybrid multi-cloud world, specialism in a wide spectrum of skills is essential, and that is what makes this particular union so relevant and exciting.
I can also assure our customers that the terms and conditions of their existing contracts with Union will be unchanged. The existing management team remains firmly in place, and customers can have full confidence that our focus on providing great advice, service and agreed service levels will remain, and will continue to be governed by the terms of their existing service agreements.
